Should I cancel it or delete it?
Cancel and delete are two functions with an important difference. In general, the delete function is for correcting mistakes. Only delete things that need to be removed permanently.
Canceling an item leaves the PortCall, reservation, or movement order in the database for later use (such as billing).

What you do to a PortCall (cancel or delete) effects berth reservations and movement orders equally.
Tips for when to choose what…
PortCalls – Cancel or Delete?
- Cancel – If a vessel is no longer making a visit to the port, you should cancel the entire PortCall.
- Delete – If you entered a PortCall by mistake (or made so many mistakes that you just want to start over), you should delete the PortCall.
Movements – Cancel or Delete?
- Cancel – If a vessel is no longer needs a pilot for a transit, you should cancel the movement.
- This is particularly true if it is a billable cancelation.
- Delete – If movement was ordered by mistake or otherwise not needed, delete the movement order.
Summary
Canceling just a movement:
- cancels the single movement order (but transit will still show on Traffic page with no pilot)
- berth reservations remain unchanged.
Canceling the whole PortCall:
- cancels all the movements (In, Out, Shifts).
- cancels the all the berth reservations (berth is now open for new reservations.
